Jon Jeffrey (J.J.) Tyzbir, Esq.
Prior to founding Tyzbir Law Office, Pllc, Attorney Tyzbir practiced civil and business law, including civil litigation, and business formation and transactions, at a mid-sized firm in Burlington, Vermont. Before that, Mr. Tyzbir proudly served as Assistant Attorney General for the State of Vermont, arguing before the Vermont Supreme Court numerous times and defending the State of Vermont and its employees against major civil claims in trial courts throughout the state. Previously, Mr. Tyzbir was an associate attorney at one of Vermont's largest law firms, practicing civil litigation in federal and state courts in Vermont and New York. Before moving to Vermont to practice in 2003, and while earning a Master's degree in International Law with honors from Georgetown University, Mr. Tyzbir was associated with the Washington, DC law firm of O'Connor and Hannan, practicing international business law, dispute resolution, and complex civil litigation.
Currently, Mr. Tyzbir proudly serves as a Judge Advocate in the Air National Guard. On state or federal duty, Mr. Tyzbir advises commanders as to military law and operational issues, and provides assistance to service members on all legal issues that affect their ability and readiness to serve their state and country.
An adjunct professor at Champlain College, Mr. Tyzbir brings his practical experience to the classroom, instructing graduate-level students in Business Law and Ethics, challenging the future business leaders of Vermont to think creatively and responsibly.
Mr. Tyzbir graduated from the University of Vermont, majoring in community development and applied economics. After two years as a PSIA-certified ski instructor at Stowe Mountain Resort, Mr. Tyzbir attended law school at the University of Richmond, graduating with honors in 2000. During law school, Mr. Tyzbir studied international law at Cambridge University (Emmanuel College); served as a legal advisor at the United Nations in New York; and studied counterintelligence at Boston University's Institute of World Politics in Washington, DC. As a third-year law student, Mr. Tyzbir obtained a practice certificate through the Office of the U.S. Attorney that allowed him to appear in federal court in Richmond, Virginia under the tutelage of James Comey, then-U.S. Attorney and now Director of the FBI.
